beginning of the birthday celebrations

In our family, birthdays are a big deal. So Logan's 2nd Birthday celebration started on Labor Day with a big family party at the pool! He LOVED getting to blow out the candles. He blew them out in the middle of the song - it is a pretty long song ;)

he loved the ice cream cake!

Logan was very lucky to have his cousins there to help open presents.
He stopped half way through to go and play with his new presents but he was excited with each one!

Logan's presents included: lots of clothes that he has to grow into (hopefully soon! they are so cute!!!), and things with wheels: monster trucks, cars, a car carrier, a big tractor, little tractors, a fire truck, Mater trucks, a dump truck, and some books and money for his bank account. He was one happy boy!

soooo excited!!!
He's definitely into this birthday thing! :)

And the gifts continued when his present from Grandma and Grandpa Dear arrived... we went to pick it up at the store and had no idea how big it was going to be. It didn't fit into the trunk so we had to go in and buy straps for the roof.
I didn't help much with this part ;)

some assembly required ;)

2 boys in a...

power wheels JEEP!
we didn't put the battery in for a few days
Logan was so happy with it just sitting in the living room so we went with it...

then we put the battery in. And this is the first time he realized it made noise and moved...

Thanks Grandma and Grandpa!

he's still working on the steering thing -
mostly just drives it in circles
but we live on a cul-de-sac so it works out ;)

7 months old

This little man had a busy month! He, apparently, decided that from his 6 month "birthday" to his 7 month "birthday" he had things to do! He went from sitting and rolling in the beginning of the month to army crawling, knee crawling, pulling himself up on furniture and now he's trying to climb the steps. And he's dangerously close to actually climbing the steps! It's been nuts around here. Keegan hasn't given us much time to adjust to his new mobile life. I'm constantly trying to stay a step ahead of him and it's been exhausting! :)

Keegan at 7 months & Logan at 7 months

Up until now when I went back and compared their pictures I thought they looked pretty similar. Not identical, but definitely similar. Now, Keegan is starting to look more like a Durnan (actually a Smith) and Logan still looks like his Daddy. I think they have the same eyes, nose, ears - but their smiles and head shape are different. They're both stinkin' cute - we're pretty lucky :)

the end of August

I have a TON of pictures to post... so keep checking back until I'm all caught up :)
Josh had to shoot at the range all day
and Logan wanted to wear his vest when he got home

our little bear cub <3 font="font">

crawling on his knees

and trying to climb the stairs.
ugh!

he can sleep anywhere :)

the good life :)

more pictures to share of some pretty cute little boys :)

comparing Logan's 1 year picture (that was hanging on our wall) to his 2 year picture

here's our army crawler in his camo pants (with a bear on his butt)
he ALWAYS gets stuck under this chair

Logan's cars crashed.
Don't you hate when that happens? ;)

he's got them all!!!!!!

fell asleep "reading" his magazine in the car

had to put up a block for Mr. Trouble

2 big smiles :)

"playing" together
Keegan prefers to taste the Little People animals

swinging boys

tasted his first Frosty
LOVED it :)

Keegan loves to crawl into the kitchen
this time he brought a toy

trying to keep him out while I clean the kitchen floor

Keeg can wave!!
It's really the cutest thing but he's still pretty selective on who he waves too

he army crawls most of the time, but he can crawl on his knees too
he's also starting to figure out the steps and pulls himself up on our legs.
STOP GROWING UP!

the cool kids hang out under the high chair ;)

Picture People

We have tried quite a few different picture places over the last 2 years but I think we finally found one that we like... and can afford. Haha Here are Keegan's 6 month pictures and Logan's 2 year pictures. Ones a little late and ones a little early - it was perfect timing! :) These aren't the high quality ones and they have the Picture People watermark... but they're sharable. :)

6 months old!

This little man is now 6 months old! And he's so much fun to be around!! (Okay because I am late with this post he's closer to 7 months... but ya know...)
First his baby stats: at 6 months old, Keegan weighed 17 lbs 1 oz (50th percentile) and was 26.75 inches (60th percentile) (we had to remeasure him at home b/c he wouldn't sit still for the nurse and she measured him only growing a quarter inch in 2 months)... and his head is still in the 90th percentile.
He's a VERY active baby. He's sitting up like a professional and is army crawling and rolling all over the place. Keegan wants to play with whatever Logan has. Logan doesn't like it! But we're working on it. I need to upload a video of our crawler. He's no longer inching around - he crosses the room, goes around/over furniture, and I often catch myself saying "Where did Keegan go?" Logan likes that he can play with him more now. But when he doesn't like Keeg coming towards his toys he yells, "Baby! Lay down!" It's pretty funny :)
Keegan is a great eater - 5 or 6 oz bottles every 4 hours, cereal and fruit for breakfast and veggies for dinner. He's also had a few bites of table food - but it's not a favorite yet. But he loves puffs! And we're still working on the sleeping in the crib thing. He will now sleep in the pack and play at night and the crib during the day. Go figure! Whatever works tho, right? As long as we're sleeping. We fall more in love with Keegan Chase everyday! He has such a fun personality!

picture overload!

Okay, I realize this is far too many pictures for a single blog post but like I said, we've been having a really busy & fun summer!! Beginning in August...

we went to a little crab feast at Aunt Nana and Uncle Troy's

Logan will make claws with his hands and dance like a crab

Aunt Bear and Nikki took Logan for a ride

Jamie showed Logan how to use the claw crackers

Josh ate A TON - he helped prep and cook them too
so I guess he earned his massive meal

The boys looked so handsome after church
but Logan is ridiculously impossible to photograph these days

so we turned on the TV

and they both sat still but couldn't smile :)

Keegan and Cora
Cora is a month younger than Keeg and the boys only real cousin
(you know, we have lots of fake cousins...)

we are so excited to have a cousin nearby now!

Keeg smiles with a big ol' open mouth - just like Logan did

my boys playing

back to the beach...
this time Keegan rode the carousel too!

such a good Daddy to sqeeze in there

Logan wanted to ride the "heli-top-ter"

my beach boy
smiles and plays all day
and eats sand by the handful (yuck!)

Keeg army crawled his way into the box

Logan plays with the box too :)

"hi mom!"

brother kisses

matching jammies

see what I mean about IMPOSSIBLE to photograph!

when Josh first saw this picture he said, "wow they really look alike"
definitely brothers
