beach baby, beach baby...

On Tuesday we had no appointments or errands so we took advantage of the FABULOUS weather and headed to the beach. It was a great day! Logan loved playing in the sand and both boys were exhausted from all of the time in the sun. Josh and I love how close we are to the beach now - less than 30 minutes to our favorite places.

Keegan is an excellent beach-napper
our little fishie
6 weeks old seems like the perfect to have your toes in the sand for the first time ;)
"yay!"

we were all so glad that Cliff came to eat and play with us
Logan likes to find bellybuttons

half-birthday

It's no secret that I like to celebrate birthdays... so we're continuing our family tradition of celebrating half-birthdays too. :) Last year, Josh bought Logan his first bouncy ball. This year, I picked, and we all got Rita's Water Ice!! Logan LOVED it and has added Rita's to his favorite foods. He screams it when he says it - sooo funny! :)

yea, pretty sure he's our kid

18 months!

I'm not sure how it happened, but Logan is now 1 and 1/2! No longer a baby that's for sure. Here are his toddler stats: 23 lbs 4 oz (25th percentile) & 31.5 inches (15th percentile). AKA - still a peanut. The doctor asked if Logan knew 3 other words besides mom & dad. Josh and I weren't sure how to respond when she asked, well how many words does he say? All of them? Logan doesn't stop talking. (Or moving.) He knows all of his animal noises, is starting to recognize letters, can count to 3, loves to do puzzles, and can put names with familiar faces. It's so fun to watch him learn something new - it seems like every day Josh and I are saying, "Did you teach him that?" His eating habits are pretty consistent. His favorites are oatmeal, ANY fruit, cereals, hotdogs, cheese, pulled pork, creamy chicken, cookies and m&ms. We're working on trying new foods but he definitely knows what he likes & would prefer to stick with it. The doctor also suggested we start potty training since Logan is so verbal and has a good comprehension of things around him. It kind of threw me for a loop. But we gave it a try. I'll give a whole post about that later but so far, so good! :) We love our Logan Ryan! He has such a fun, goofy personality but also loves to snuggle and give kisses. He's adapted well to big brother life & is really interested in Keegan these days. He tries to give the baby his sippy cup, goldfish, cars, and tries to throw him the ball. We have to keep an eye on them together. ;)

the good life :)

These days, life is good. :) We've figured out how to help Keegan's tummy troubles - so he's a happier baby. And that means I am a happier mama. And everyone knows,
if mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy.

Logan loves to sit and "play" with Keegan

see? happy baby!
he's smiling at all of us now
he really smiles when Logan talks to him or gives him kisses
Logan loves pasta

one month old

Keegan is now 6 weeks old, so I should put up his one month post before he is TWO months old. Holy moly. Our new pediatrician doesn't do a one-month well visit so we don't really have any stats. He did get a weight measurement at 5 weeks for his first 'sick visit.' And weighed in at 10 lbs 11 oz - between the 50th & 75th percentiles. He has the chubbiest cheeks and is starting to get some leg rolls. We love him to pieces!

Although, somedays I feel like he should have come with an instruction manual. Seriously, this kid keeps throwing curve balls and likes to keep us on our toes. First there was the whole "I'm coming out hand first" and making me have a c-section thing. He was slightly jaundice when he was born but it was gone by 2 weeks. Also around 2 weeks he developed his "Irish temper" to match his Irish name. All of a sudden he was a fussy baby and always seemed uncomfortable. So I followed ANYONE'S advice & tried removing chocolate, beans, etc. from my diet to see if that would help with his fussy/gas/tummy troubles. Nope. And then we noticed he seemed more yellow again & took him to the doctor & confirmed he was jaundice again. This time instead of newborn jaundice, he was diagnosed with breast milk jaundice (his bilirubin level was 5 times the normal limit for a 5 week old baby). Something in the breast milk made it hard for him to get all of the bilirubin out of his system & he needed a "reboot." So Keegan got formula bottles for 3 days while I had the wonderful job of pumping and storing breast milk for 3 days. Also known as the LONGEST 3 days/nights of my life. Whew. Not much sleeping those days. Keegan also had some trouble with the formula so his tummy trouble was even worse. The current status on that is all up in the air. His jaundice seems gone and he's back to nursing. Currently we're trying: a dairy free diet for me & soy formula when he gets a bottle. It seems to be helping him, he's a much happier baby these days. :)

oh, the irony

sometimes Josh brings his work home with him

rest of February

I'm trying to catch-up ... really I am.

Josh and Logan enjoying the warm weather on the patio
when Logan sees Keegan like this - he WILL get a high-five
whether Keegan likes it or not
post-milk sleepy face
post-bath snuggled face
mellow-yellow
Josh made me a cake for my birthday...
and then he ate it b/c I couldn't eat chocolate (that week)
I wish I could say this was Keegan's first or even second bath.
But we didn't get pictures of that...
so here is a picture of Keegan's 20th(?) bath
(sorry kiddo)

for now

just some phone pictures for now.
I have TONS of pictures on the camera, but this will do for tonight.

Logan LOVES this hat.
Sometimes he pulls it over his eyes in the car
and then takes a nap.
Stuck his fruit strip on his forehead... why?
Because he's a boy.
That'll be the answer to a lot of questions in the future,
I can just feel it.
Keegan LOVES to sleep covered in his blanket.
He's managed to get it over his face a few times.
(just like his Aunt Bear)
But we compromise and this is how I let him sleep.
So I can sleep too.
Josh tackled a pinterest project for me...
it came out awesome!!
Logan helped put it up ;)
and get it ready.
We've been enjoying the warm winter.
Logan asks for walks all the time.
more projects on the way means
LOTS of trips to Lowes/Home Depot.
we also have to have 2 carts now...
one for cute boys & the other for project stuff.
I always choose the boy cart. ;)
